The Year of the Rat! (Chinese New Year)

Tonight is Chinese New Year’s Eve, commencing the 15-day holiday for many Chinese nationals around the world. 2020 is the year of the rat, this means optimistic and energetic, people born in the Rat year are likable by all. They are sensitive to other’s emotions but are stubborn with your opinion. Their personality is kind, but due to weak communication skills, their words may seem impolite and rude.

On the financial side, they like saving and can be stingy. However, their love for hoarding will sometimes cause them to waste money on unnecessary things.

In addition, China’s economy has come to a sort of pause due to the holiday. Factories are shut down for a bare minimum of 15 days meaning most if not all workers will return to their home town for the 2 week long celebration with family.

Transportation this time of year is at it highest level. Thankfully the Chinese Government has invested countless dollars into a state of the art railway system unlike anywhere else on the planet.

One major cause of concern for Chinese nationals and people around the world to be well aware of is the newly found outbreak of Coronavirus. This virus was discovered in the city of Wuhan China and has since spread to over 10 countries including the United States. To date there are 26 causes of death due to this virus. Major precautions are being taken by the Chinese government resulting in infected cities such as Wuhan to be locked down indefinitely until a control on the virus is applicable.

We wish the entire World Trade Corporation Asia Pacific Team and every one of our affiliates in China and around the world a happy and prosperous new year!
